Devotional Gatherings

What does a Devotional Gathering look like? There are no rituals in the Bahá'í Faith and so the gatherings need not take any special format. The attendees beautify their surroundings to establish an atmosphere conducive to prayer. All around the world people may incorporate elements from their culture but key is the spirit of love and fellowship in praying and meditating together. Sometimes prayers and writings on a theme such as healing or peace are selected from the Sacred Scripture of the Bahá'í and other religions, followed by open prayer. Attendees are welcome to simply listen and enjoy the spiritual atmosphere, to participate by reciting some of the selected readings or prayers, or to share their own personal selections.

"Prayer is conversation with God. The greatest attainment or the sweetest state is none other than conversation with God. It creates spirituality, creates mindfulness and celestial feelings, begets new attractions of the Kingdom and engenders the susceptibilities of the higher intelligence."
