Bahá'í Life in the Kamloops area

Preadolescents aged 11 to 14 are eager to think about the many issues to which their tender consciences are slowly awakening. Small groups of Junior Youth follow a series of three books designed to foster this awakening, while helping them articulate ideas with some degree of precision and clarity. Their meetings involve time for memorization and recitation of quotations and prayers; short readings with universal themes, exercises and discussion questions; singing and other forms of artistic expression; recreation and short service projects with achievable goals. Breezes of Confirmation (ages 11-12) creates within them the moral structures that will underlie their decisions and guide their actions as they mature into young adults and active members of society. Walking the Straight Path (ages 13-14) focuses on translating high ideals and noble words into pure deeds. Drawing on the Power of the Word (age 14) contributes to the development of capacity to identify moral implications of speech and action.
